BOOK ON NEWARI DELICACIES UNVEILED

The book titled Newa Ghasa by Raj Kaji Shakya, describes various food delicacies, popular mainly among the Shakya, Bajracharya, and Tuladhar communities. three games added to the president running shield sports meet

Kathmandu, Jan. 12: , Three games have been added to the 5th Kathmandu district-wide President Running Shield Sports tournament to begin from coming January 17. Karate, Taekwondo and Wusu have been added to bring the number of games to five including Athletics and Volley ball, according to Chief of Kathmandu Disrict Sports Development Committee Lila Ram Basnet. The tournament however will start from the electoral constituency level competition and the top two teams will be selected for the three-day district-wide competition. The team champion will be decided based on the medals won in Athletics and volleyball only. The first, second and third team will walk away with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. RSS

Documentary on migration screened

Kathmandu, Dec. 18: A documentary related to migration was screened today on the occasion of the International Migrants Day. The documentary 'The Dream of Reality' directed by Ashor Thapa presents the real life of Ganesh Kumar Phunyal, 38, from Dolakha district who went to work in Malaysia. The documentary shows the heart-rending footage of Phunyal on how his limbs had to be amputated after he met with an accident in course of work in Malaysia one year back. The documentary also shows the kind of treatment he is undergoing after returning to Nepal.

Baijanathpur sees change through constant follow-up

Panityanki (Morang), Dec. 18: People of Baijanathpur have shown an example that constant watch on the administrative services could bring positive changes regarding the delivery of different public services at the local level. Baijanathpur VDC, though a neighboring VDC of Biratnagar Sub-metropolitan City, was in shadow from the development point of view but has seen changes after different human rights monitoring groups were formed and they monitored the local administrative bodies' activities.

ELECTION IS MAJOR AGENDA OF NATIONAL POLITICS : DAHAL

Birgunj, Sept. 6 , Chairman of UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that holding the forthcoming CA election successfully was the major agenda of national politics. Addressing a press meet organized by the Revolutionary Journalists Association, Parsa, Dahal said that all parties should take part in the coming election to institutionalize the achievements of the Peoples' War, the People's Movement and the Madhes Movement.

DEUBA DIRECTS CADRES TO GEAR UP FOR ELECTION

Birgunj, Sept. 6 , Senior Leader of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the party cadres to gear up for the election by putting aside internal disputes. Talking to party cadres' gathering here today, Deuba said that a democratic party might have minor disputes but that should not be hyped up as big agenda.

UML chief Khanal says no one can stop Nov. 19 polls

Birgunj, Sept. 6 , CPN (UML) chairman Jhalanath Khanal has said that nobody could stop the Second Constituent Assembly election declared for November 19. Addressing a press conference organised by the Press Chautari Nepal, Parsa chapter here today, he said people are aspiring for development, freedom and dignity at present and that election was the only means to achieve that.

Lighting Damages House in Mahottari

Gaushala (Mahottari), Sept. 2: Lighting damaged a house at Bardibas VDC-1 in the district last night. The house of Ges Bahadur Hamal was damaged by lightning, said Inspector Netra Bahadur Baruwal at the District Police Office, Mahottari.

Ground water level increases in Lalitpur

Kathmandu, Sept. 2: Water is available in the traditional water spouts, wells and ponds in Lalitpur area following extensive implementation of rainwater collection and ground water recharge projects at different places of the district.
